Gloucester, NJ – James Smith Jr. Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Rt 42 Near MM 6.9

Gloucester, NJ (May 23, 2022) – A motorcycle rider was killed in a collision with another vehicle on Saturday, May 21st in Camden County.

The victim, who has since been identified as 47-year-old James Smith Jr., a resident of Bridgeton, was riding his motorcycle southbound on Route 42 near mile marker 6.9 in Gloucester Township at about 3:45 a.m. when his bike and an oil tanker truck collided with one another.

The impact caused the motorcycle to overturn and Smith and his passenger were both ejected from the bike.

Smith died at the scene. His passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Bridgeton, sustained injuries believed to be non-critical.

The truck driver was unharmed during the incident.

This accident remains under investigation.
