Pottstown, PA (May 27, 2022) – Fire crews say that at least four victims were killed and two other people were seriously hurt in a house fire and explosion that erupted on Thursday evening, May 26, in the Pottstown area.
Authorities in the Philadelphia-area borough say two additional people were unaccounted for in the aftermath of the house explosion. Pottstown borough manager Justin Keller noted that first responders were dispatched to the location of the incident around 8:00 p.m., with multiple agencies investigating the site.
Keller added that no details about the victims are presently public. Pennsylvania State Police, and officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), were on the site of the explosion late on Thursday night and attempting to pinpoint its cause.
The investigation remains active, and no other details about the residents of the home or the missing victims were made available.
Our sincerest condolences go out to the families of those who died. We would like to extend our best wishes for a full recovery to the injured victims.
Pennsylvania Explosions & House Fires
It just takes a moment’s distraction for a home fire to break out anywhere in the state of Pennsylvania. These incidents often have a negative impact not just on private living spaces, but also on commercial structures or places of business. There are a lot of fires that are quickly put out by rescue units, but many more do extensive damage and change people’s lives.
According to information that was made public for the year 2020, about 1,400,000 fires and explosions causing injuries happened across the United States.
In addition, nearly 3,500 people lost their lives and 15,200 more were critically injured as a result of these incidents. Inhaling smoke and suffering burns are two of the most serious wounds that may be inflicted by fires, requiring sufferers to deal with excruciating physical agony as well as psychological anguish.
