Chambersburg, PA (January 6, 2022) – On Wednesday, January 5, a fatal truck accident occurred at an intersection in Chambersburg that claimed the life of an elderly man.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Franklin Street and West Commerce Street. An 84-year-old man was traveling west in his Ford Explorer when he was struck by an International Harvester truck that was traveling through the intersection. The accident caused severe damages to the Explorer.
Numerous local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 84-year-old sustained blunt force trauma injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck remained in the area and was not hurt.
A portion of the intersection was blocked for an extensive period of time.
