Drexel Hill, PA (January 11, 2022) – Around 1 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, January 11, four people were injured in a helicopter crash in Drexel Hill.
According to officials, the accident involved a medical helicopter, which crash landed near the area of the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church. The helicopter was traveling in the area from another state but it is believed that it experienced mechanical problems at some point during the flight. When the aircraft started to crash land, it struck a stop sign and broke into two pieces as it hit the ground.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Four people aboard, including an infant, suffered injuries as a result of the accident. The parties are all expected to be okay.
Due to the severity of the accident, the area was blocked for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene. Crews at the scene had to take preventative steps to ensure that fuel did not leak out of the helicopter, contaminating nearby water.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
