Gloucester City, NJ (February 3, 2022) – A car accident took place at an intersection in Gloucester City on Thursday morning, February 3.
Camden County officials confirmed that the accident happened around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Essex Street and Collings Road. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the train track intersection at the same time, forcefully colliding with each other. The vehicles involved in the accident sustained heavy damages as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. One passenger was trapped inside one of the vehicles and had to be extricated by fire crews, which took approximately 20 minutes. The passenger, as well as a second person, were rushed to local hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries.
All train traffic was stopped in the area due to the cars being stuck on the tracks for some time. The vehicles were quickly removed from the tracks and train traffic was able to proceed.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
