Lakewood, NJ (February 16, 2022) – A pedestrian sustained injuries in a crash that took place at an intersection in Lakewood on Tuesday evening, February 15.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of Princeton Avenue and East Kennedy Boulevard. A pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was walking in the area when they started to cross the street at the intersection. This is when they were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle that was traveling through the area. The driver of the vehicle allegedly remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian sustained injuries as a result of the accident. They were taken to Jersey Shore University Hospital for treatment.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
