Manchester Township, NJ (May 24, 2023) – The cause of a motorcycle and vehicle collision that occurred on Monday afternoon, May 22, in Manchester Township is still under investigation, according to troopers with the New Jersey State Police.
According to the police report, a man was riding a 2006 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle along Colonial Drive when the 16-year-old driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox allegedly swerved in front of him off the Route 37 ramp.
The motorcyclist braked hard to avoid a collision, tipping the bike onto its side, but he ended up rolling into the Chevy. Police responded and began investigating the scene shortly thereafter, around 4:30 p.m.
His injuries were not life-threatening, but he was sent to Community Medical Center in Toms River for further care.
The 16-year-old driver, who had a New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) Learner’s Permit, reported no injuries, but a passenger in the vehicle, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to Community Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have said that a failure to stop and yield is a contributing factor to the cause of the wreck, though the investigation still remains ongoing at this time.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their families.
