Philadelphia, PA (March 27, 2022) – Serious injuries were reported in a pedestrian accident involving a DUI driver in Philadelphia on Saturday morning, March 26.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened around 2 a.m. at the intersection of North 22nd Street and York Street. Police confirmed that a driver was traveling near the intersection at a high rate of speed. He suddenly struck a man who was attempting to get into his vehicle, which was parked in the area. This led to a chain-reaction collision that involved three other vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as a man in his twenties, was rushed to Temple Hospital in critical condition. He remains in the hospital at this time.
The driver who caused the accident, who has not yet been formally identified, was taken into police custody and is now facing DUI charges, as well as other related charges for his role in the accident.
