Philadelphia, PA (April 15, 2023) – Four people have died as a result of a fatal crash that took place in Philadelphia on Saturday morning, April 15. At around 2:00 a.m., the Philadelphia Police Department responded to the scene of an automobile accident on the Schuylkill Expressway.
Reports from authorities show that two vehicles were involved in a collision during the early morning hours. Preliminary reports determined that one vehicle swerved across several lanes of traffic before crashing into the second vehicle near the exit for City Avenue. The impact of the crash caused the first car to spin out and overturn before coming to a rest on the right shoulder of the roadway.
The second car was then struck in the rear and propelled forward, where it crashed into a bridge pillar near Interstate 76 westbound.
One victim, identified as Victor Spizzirri, was transported to Temple University Hospital for the treatment of significant injuries.
Four people in the second vehicle were all fatally injured. The victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities determined that Spizzirri was impaired, and he was taken into police custody for homicide by vehicle due to driving under the influence, as well as several other charges. At this time, investigations into the accident are underway.
Our condolences go out to the families of all four victims who died as a result of this accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
