Philadelphia, PA (May 18, 2022) – A teenager who was hit and critically injured by a dirt bike rider in Philadelphia on Sunday evening died from his injuries late Tuesday morning, May 17.
The teen, a 17-year-old male who was on his skateboard at the time of the incident, was struck by the dirt bike rider around 10:30 p.m. on Allegheny Avenue, located in Philadelphia’s Fairhill neighborhood.
Officers said their initial investigation suggested that the male dirt bike rider was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed and doing wheelies in the street when he hit the victim and fled the scene shortly thereafter.
Emergency medical techs rushed the critically injured teenager to Temple University Hospital, where he died late Tuesday morning.
Philadelphia Police officers released footage of the wreck, along with images of the dirt bike rider. The rider is described as a male and was wearing a helmet, a white t-shirt, a red bandanna, and black pants. He also appeared to have minor injuries, per the crash footage.
