Sayreville, NJ (January 6, 2022) – Officials confirmed that a fatal truck accident took the life of one individual on Thursday morning, January 6, in Sayreville.
The accident, according to police, happened around 11 a.m. on Bordentown Avenue around the area of the Sayreville Soccer Complex. A 68-year-old man was traveling along in a westbound vehicle when it was suddenly struck by a truck that was traveling east at the time. The accident led to extensive damages to the passenger vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other Sayreville responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 68-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The truck driver, identified as a 39-year-old man, was treated at the scene due to injuries.
Police later determined that a pickup truck was also involved in the crash. That driver remained at the scene but was not hurt.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
