At around 6:20 p.m., the incident occurred in the southbound lanes of Route 42 near I-295, according to Gloucester City authorities. The police verified that two vehicles were going on the right side of the road when they collided in a rear-end or chain-reaction crash in which a third driver may have been involved.

Several local responders, including paramedics, firemen, and others, rushed to the site to assist individuals in need. One or more accident victims incurred injuries, and these unidentified wounded individuals were sent to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Due to the severity of the collision, all lanes heading north were stopped for some time. The police quickly fled the site without commenting on the victims or the severity of their injuries.
