New Jersey Auto-Pedestrian Accident Injuries

Experts in traffic safety agree that the numerous new laws and procedures implemented in recent years by New Jersey’s towns and municipalities to increase pedestrian safety will be beneficial in the long run.

More than half of all pedestrian fatalities in five North Jersey counties this year have occurred in the last few months. Statistics from around the state have been rising, thus greater action is needed to protect the people of the Garden State.

According to the latest up-to-date statistics from the New Jersey State Police, our state saw its highest annual total of road deaths since 2007 and its highest annual number of pedestrian fatalities in more than three decades in 2021.

To rub salt in the wound, New Jersey’s State Police report that as of the end of December, 672 pedestrians had lost their lives in traffic accidents in the Garden State, making this year the worst on record. To put it another way, this is the largest number of deaths since 724 were recorded in 2007.
