Absecon, NJ (January 14, 2022) – On Saturday morning, a man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash on a major road in Absecon.
According to local officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of White Horse Pike. Police confirmed that a 25-year-old man was traveling east on the highway when he suddenly struck a 67-year-old man who was walking east in the area. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene without stopping.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was badly injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody else was hurt in the collision.
Police later found the driver who struck the pedestrian at his home. He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with a fatality.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
