Egg Harbor Township, NJ (March 15, 2022) – Serious injuries were reported in a bicycle crash that took place in Egg Harbor Township on Monday afternoon, March 14.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 2:36 p.m. at the intersection of Black Horse Pike and Uibel Avenue. Police confirmed that an 18-year-old was riding his bicycle from the shoulder into the roadway. At the same time, a 50-year-old female driver was traveling eastbound in her vehicle and did not stop in time, slamming into the bicyclist. He was thrown onto the ground due to the forceful collision.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist was rushed to AtlantiCare Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His current condition is not yet known. The driver of the vehicle, as well as her passengers, were not hurt in the accident.
The roadway was blocked for approximately two hours as police worked to clear the scene. Police urged those in the area to use alternate routes until the scene was cleared.
