Serious Vehicle Accidents in Philadelphia
Major truck accidents are typically some of the deadliest types of crashes we see on Philadelphia and Pennsylvania roadways. Needless to say, every driver should be extremely careful on Pennsylvania’s roadways, where over 20,000 accidents involving several vehicles occur annually in the Pennsylvania Commonwealth.
And while the overall number of heavy truck collisions in 2015 was the greatest since 2011, the number of fatal truck collisions was the lowest in the prior five years.
In 2015, more than 75% of large truck incidents in Pennsylvania happened on state roadways. Which covers both state roads and interstates. PennDOT reports that the remaining accidents occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike or a local road.
Meanwhile, only 2.3% of the fatal collisions that occurred in 2015 included heavy truck passengers, the majority of whom were in the driver’s seat.
Still, these accidents frequently result in serious consequences, from major injuries to death. In the event that you were not at fault for such an accident but sustained serious injuries, the person who caused the collision may be liable for your medical expenses, lost income, and more.
Unfortunately, when a driver is permanently disabled as a result of their injuries, an insurance company may look for loopholes to avoid paying for long-term care or lost income and earning potential. Even if the victims’ injuries were not their fault, these major insurance conglomerates might try to avoid paying a victim’s rightful compensation in order to protect their bottom line.
