Auto Accidents in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
According to statistics and research conducted in Pennsylvania in 2014, rear-end collisions were the second most common type of car accident that year. More than 20,000 accidents involving several vehicles occur every year in Pennsylvania; consequently, all motorists there should exercise heightened vigilance.
Rear-end collisions are a regular result of careless driving. The vast majority of rear-end collisions in the state of Pennsylvania are caused by drivers who disobey traffic signals by passing through red lights or stop signs. Sometimes it’s crystal clear who was at fault in a rear-end collision, while other times, it’s not at all apparent what happened.
The back of a car rarely gets any attention when there’s been an accident. On the other hand, these mishaps have the potential to be just as lethal as head-on collisions. Some damage can be done even in a tiny rear-end accident.
The severity of injuries sustained in a rear-end collision is strongly influenced by the speed of the opposing vehicle at the moment of impact. Most rear-end collisions occur when a driver suddenly stops, causing the car behind them to slam into them.
Your car is propelled forward by the inertia of the vehicle in front of you. When a passenger buckles up, the seat reclines for them automatically. When traveling at high speeds, colliding with a seat or headrest can have devastating effects, some of which may not become apparent for several hours or even days.
If you were critically hurt in a rear-end collision that was not your fault, the person who caused the accident should cover your medical costs and lost wages.
If a car accident victim becomes permanently disabled and unable to return to work, his or her insurer may try to find any excuse not to pay for permanent care or lost wages and future earning potential.
