The incident occurred on Route 202 between Johnson Farm Lane and Watkin Avenue at roughly 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.

State troopers in Pennsylvania said the incident occurred after a person left their stalled car on the side of Route 202 southbound. Shortly after they pulled over, the pedestrian stepped out into the right lane.

A passing automobile hit the pedestrian as they were standing next to their vehicle. The driver involved stayed at the scene to cooperate with authorities.

The pedestrian was fatally injured, and despite life-saving treatment administered by EMTs, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Pennsylvania State Police are still looking into what caused this collision and have not provided further details about the victim.

Our hearts go out to the deceased victim’s loved ones at this time.

Pedestrian Accident Deaths in Pennsylvania

Compared to drivers, pedestrians face a far higher risk of serious injury or death on U.S. streets and sidewalks. Philly and Pitty are two excellent case studies in this respect. Greater foot traffic in cities and other densely populated areas in the Commonwealth makes them more vulnerable to similar incidents. Over 130 pedestrians were killed by cars in Pennsylvania in 2020, according to official estimates and traffic experts.
