Atlantic City, NJ (April 21, 2022) – One person was critically injured in a pedestrian accident that took place on a major roadway in Atlantic City on Wednesday night, April 20.
According to Atlantic City Police, the accident happened around 11:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of US-40 around the area of the Atlantic City Expressway. The pedestrian was crossing one or more lanes of the highway when they were struck by a passenger vehicle in the area. It is not known if the driver remained at the scene or not.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was critically injured. They were rushed to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their current condition is not yet known.
The roadway was completely blocked in the area of the accident as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
