May 23, 2022

Bensalem, PA (May 22, 2022) – Two people were hospitalized following an accident in the 900th block of Bristol Pike on Saturday, May 21st in Bensalem.

At about 11:00 a.m. when police received reports of a man driving erratically. The driver who was in front of him told police that when she pulled over to let him go by, she noticed that his vehicle’s doors were open. The woman said that she called 911 to report the incident and then, thinking the man might be having a medical emergency, she set out after him.

As the man approached Richardson Avenue, he swerved into the center lane and crashed into the back of another vehicle, injuring the driver.

The man’s vehicle then overturned onto its side, throwing him onto the roadway. He sustained serious injuries, including head trauma.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Route 13 was shut down between the Colonial Shopping Center and Tennis Avenue.

Police are still working to determine the cause of this incident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Rear-End Collisions in Pennsylvania

Bensalem, PA - Emergency Workers Respond to Rollover Accident on Bristol Pike

Rear-end vehicle collisions account for more than 20% of all motor vehicle accidents in the state of Pennsylvania. Although a lot of rear-end collisions, also known as fender benders can seem trivial when they first occur and are certainly less serious than a head-on crash, painful and debilitating injuries can still develop several days after the impact.

Some rear-end crashes are extremely violent and cause critical injuries and even fatalities, particularly if the collision involved a tractor-trailer.

These kinds of accidents can be caused by a lot of factors, like drivers who are distracted by making phone calls, texting, programming their car’s GPS system, and reaching for objects inside their vehicle. The most common causes of rear-end accidents, however, are drivers traveling at excessive speeds, backing out of parking spaces or driveways without looking, following too closely to the car in front of them, stopping suddenly for red-light cameras, and inclement weather conditions.

If you sustained significant injuries in a rear-end accident for which you were not to blame, you should not be on the hook for the damages caused by a stack of medical bills or time off of work.

In many cases, insurance providers will pay for a few essential medical treatments, but will do anything to avoid covering disabilities, long-term care, or lost income.
