Burlington Township, NJ (January 4, 2024) – A multi-vehicle accident in Burlington Township on the New Jersey Turnpike occurred early Sunday morning and resulted in one person being airlifted to a local hospital and three others also sustaining serious injuries, according to state police.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the accident happened at 12:35 a.m., near milepost 45.6, when a vehicle traveling north on the Turnpike lost control, went into a ditch, and then came back onto the roadway. Shortly thereafter, an SUV traveling northbound collided with the first vehicle, and a third car allegedly collided with the SUV when the driver was unable to avoid the first two cars.
The first driver, a 26-year-old woman from Baltimore, Maryland, was flown to a local hospital after she suffered critical injuries. Police said that the driver of the SUV, along with the driver and passenger of the third car, all sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. State law enforcement is still investigating and has not released further details in the meantime.
Our thoughts are extended to all injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recovery.
