Dublin Boro, PA (August 24, 2025)— According to authorities, a woman was fatally hit by a car on Saturday in Bucks County while she was crossing the road.
Bucks officials say that the call came in on August 23, shortly after 5:00 p.m., in the area of Route 313 and Maple Avenue in Dublin Borough, Bucks County. The vehicle was making a left-hand turn on Maple Avenue and did not see the pedestrian before striking them, per reports from officers on the scene.
Dublin Mayor Christopher Hayes confirmed that a 72-year-old woman was killed in the incident. The driver of the vehicle is complying with police and county officials, though an investigation is ongoing. No further details were reported, but witnesses were asked to step forward.
We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased woman’s family members.
Pedestrian Accidents in Pennsylvania
Fatal pedestrian accidents remain a serious problem across Pennsylvania, particularly in high-traffic areas such as Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs. Each year, pedestrians account for a disproportionately high number of roadway deaths compared to other types of traffic collisions.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), pedestrians face a much greater risk of fatal injury in crashes than motor vehicle occupants. With no physical protection, even low-speed impacts can be deadly. Families are often left not only grieving the sudden loss of a loved one but also facing significant financial challenges, including funeral expenses, medical bills, and the loss of household income.
One of the most difficult aspects of these cases is proving fault. Insurance companies often work aggressively to minimize payouts, and disputes over liability are common. Quick action—such as obtaining the police report, identifying witnesses, and documenting the circumstances of the crash—can make a significant difference in the strength of a wrongful death claim.
Under Pennsylvania law, families of pedestrians killed in accidents caused by negligence may pursue a wrongful death lawsuit. Damages can include funeral and burial costs, lost wages and benefits, loss of companionship, and the emotional suffering caused by the preventable loss.
