Florham Park, NJ (July 1, 2024) – Florham Park Police said one pedestrian is dead and another has serious injuries after a driver struck them when they were crossing the road on Monday, July 1.
Officials are still investigating the collision, and according to state police records, it is the tenth fatal crash in Morris County this year. After receiving multiple calls, officers arrived at the intersection of Ridgedale Avenue and Brooklake Road just after 11:00 a.m. They found two people who had been hit by a car, according to a statement from police. Per a preliminary investigation, police said the pedestrians were walking eastbound across Ridgedale Avenue when the driver turned southbound onto Ridgedale from Brooklake Road and hit them.
Police said both victims were taken to a local hospital with severe injuries, and one later died. The other person remains hospitalized.
