Hayfield Township, PA (July 25, 2023) – A woman from Meadville was killed in a weekend collision involving two vehicles, according to local police officers.
Per Hayfield authorities, the accident occurred on Saturday evening around 7:15 p.m. on State Highway 98 in the 14000 block.
Police said that one driver, a 25-year-old man, tried to pass another car in a no-passing zone.
Suddenly, his SUV veered into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by a 39-year-old woman. Both drivers attempted to swerve and avoid the other but ended up colliding.
The SUV skidded down a steep incline, landed on its roof, and quickly caught fire. The first driver escaped with only minor scratches and bruises, but the woman was pronounced dead from her injuries at the scene.
No citations or charges have been filed in connection with the incident, but authorities are continuing to investigate.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the deceased woman’s family.
