Jackson Township, NJ (March 1, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Jackson Township on Sunday night, February 27.
Jackson Township Police confirmed that the accident happened at 9 p.m. on Whitesville Road. An adult female was walking in the area when she suddenly started to cross the roadway. She was struck by a Dodge Durango that was traveling in the area. The driver of the vehicle allegedly remained at the scene of the crash.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian was seriously injured as a result of the collision. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
