Jersey City, NJ (August 9, 2025) – A man was killed late Friday night, August 8, after being struck by a Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train near the Garfield Avenue Station, according to New Jersey Transit Police.
Authorities said the incident occurred just before midnight on August 8, when a light rail vehicle departing West Side Avenue at 11:48 p.m. and bound for Exchange Place at 12:24 a.m. fatally struck an adult male trespasser on the tracks. One of the 25 passengers aboard, along with the train operator, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
