Lakewood, NJ (January 18, 2022) – A child was seriously injured in a pedestrian crash that took place on a roadway in Lakewood on Monday afternoon, January 17.
According to Lakewood Police, the accident happened on County Line Road at Squankum Road around 5:30 p.m. A 2020 Jeep Cherokee was traveling west in the area when it suddenly struck a 7-year-old child who was crossing the street. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene following the collision.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 7-year-old was rushed to the Jersey Shore Medical Center trauma unit for treatment of her severe injuries.
Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked around the area of the intersection for some time. No charges have since been filed against the driver.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
