Manchester, NJ (February 25, 2022) – A woman was critically injured in a pedestrian accident that took place in Manchester on Wednesday morning, February 23.
According to Manchester officials, the accident happened around 8:50 a.m. on US-70 in the parking lot at ShopRite. An 87-year-old woman was allegedly walking toward the store when she was suddenly struck by a Chevrolet Trax that was making a turn to leave the parking lot. Officials found her lying in the middle of the parking lot aisle. The driver who struck the woman remained at the scene until police arrived.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian sustained severe internal injuries and injuries to the right side of her body. She was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment, though her current condition is not yet known.
The area was blocked for an extended period of time until police cleared the scene.
