Manchester, NJ (April 10, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal car accident that took place at an intersection in Manchester on Thursday night, April 7.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of NJ-70 and Manchester Boulevard. Police confirmed that an 82-year-old woman was driving in a gold Honda Accord in the area when the driver started to make a left turn at the intersection. This is when the vehicle was struck by a Dodge Ram driven by a 19-year-old woman that was headed east. The Honda went off the side of the road and struck a utility pole, while the Dodge came to a stop.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. An 83-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Honda was rushed to Community Medical Center but was tragically pronounced deceased while there. The 82-year-old driver of the Honda sustained facial lacerations and chest pains and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Dodge was not hurt.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
