Monroe, NJ (February 28, 2022) – A child pedestrian was injured in an accident near an intersection in Monroe on Saturday evening, February 26.
According to Gloucester County Police, the accident happened on Malaga Road near the area of Morgan Road. Police confirmed that a 12-year-old child was walking alongside the road in the area when they were suddenly struck by a black Dodge Ram pickup truck. The driver stopped in the middle of the road but then fled the scene headed toward Winslow Township.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The child was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. They received surgeries for multiple injuries but their current condition is not yet known.
Police have not said if they found the driver responsible for the accident as of yet. They claim that the pickup truck will have damage to its front passenger side headlight.
No further details have been released regarding the accident. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
