New Brunswick, NJ (May 25, 2025) – A North Brunswick man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that took place Saturday night in New Brunswick, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
The 41-year-old North Brunswick man was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash for a Saturday night crash that killed a 48-year-old New Brunswick woman, the office said. At approximately 10:41 p.m. on Saturday, New Brunswick police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Lee Street and Suydam Street and found a woman with serious injuries.
She was later pronounced deceased at the site, according to area officers. In the meantime, no further details were released as an investigation remains ongoing, but witnesses were asked to step forward.
We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased woman’s loved ones. Our thoughts also go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
Serious Vehicle Crashes in New Jersey
Despite ongoing advances in vehicle technology, stricter traffic regulations, and widespread safe-driving campaigns, New Jersey still sees alarming numbers of multi-vehicle crashes every year. In a single recent year, state transportation data recorded more than 276,000 collisions, roughly 60,000 of them resulting in injuries. Those statistics underscore an unfortunate truth: too many motorists ignore their duty to operate a vehicle responsibly, putting everyone on the road at risk.
