Philadelphia, PA (September 4, 2025) – A serious crash in the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia left three people, including a child, injured on Wednesday afternoon, September 3.
According to investigators, the collision occurred around 4:15 p.m. on North Broad Street. Police said a 33-year-old man driving a white Hyundai Kona was traveling the wrong way, heading south in the northbound lanes. He ran a red light and slammed into a white Toyota Camry that was crossing Broad Street from Wallace Street.
The crash caused heavy damage to both vehicles. Inside the Camry, an 11-year-old boy suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in critical condition. His father, a 37-year-old man who was driving the Camry, declined medical treatment but accompanied his son to the hospital.
A 39-year-old passenger in the Camry was also hospitalized and is listed in stable condition. Police confirmed the Hyundai driver was taken to Temple University Hospital and remains in critical condition.
Authorities closed North Broad Street for a short period while emergency crews cleared the scene and investigators examined the crash site. Officials continue to review what led to the wrong-way driving and the chain of events that caused the collision.
We extend our thoughts to the injured and hope for their full recovery.
Car Accidents in Pennsylvania
Car accidents in Pennsylvania remain a leading cause of serious injuries, especially in dense urban areas like Philadelphia.
Wrong-way driving and red-light violations increase the risk of catastrophic collisions. Families often find their lives turned upside down after these accidents, facing medical emergencies, financial strain, and long recovery periods.
Victims of car accidents in Pennsylvania may be entitled to compensation that helps cover:
- Emergency medical treatment and hospital bills – This includes ambulance transport, emergency surgeries, and follow-up doctor visits.
- Ongoing rehabilitation or therapy – Recovery may require weeks or months of physical therapy and specialized care.
- Lost wages and reduced earning capacity – Victims can seek payment for income lost while recovering and for future earning potential.
- Pain and suffering damages – These damages account for physical pain, emotional distress, and the loss of enjoyment of life.
- Property damage costs – Compensation may also include the repair or replacement of vehicles damaged in the crash.
When children are involved, the stakes are even higher. Parents not only face medical costs but also emotional challenges and potential long-term effects on their child’s health.
