Philadelphia, PA (February 9, 2022) – Around midnight on Wednesday, February 9, one person was killed in a fatal rollover accident in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police confirmed that the accident happened in the westbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway around the area of Montgomery Drive. An SUV and a Honda sedan were traveling in the area when they became involved in a collision with each other. The SUV flipped over onto its roof as a result of the accident. One person was ejected onto the roadway from the rolled vehicle.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and local fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The person who was thrown from the SUV was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the accident.
Several eastbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update if more information becomes available.
