Philadelphia, PA (April 24, 2022) – A father and his children were killed in a fatal fire that took place on a roadway in Philadelphia on Sunday morning, April 24.
According to Philadelphia Police, the fire broke out in a rowhome at 3200 Hartville Street near the area of Allegheny Avenue. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found a large amount of flames leaping out of the first and second floors of the home. A father jumped into action inside the home and helped his wife to safety. He also attempted to save the children inside.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The father and his children, aged 4, 9 and 12, were unable to escape the fire. They were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The mother of the children was burned badly as a result of the fire. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
The area was blocked off for several hours. Fire crews were unable to get close to the home as smoke and flames overtook the home, which took some time for them to get the fire completely under control.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
