Injury Auto Accidents in Philadelphia
In Pennsylvania, like in the rest of the country, automobile accidents are a primary cause of death and injury. Tragically, it is estimated that about 54,000 people are injured yearly in Pennsylvania due to car accidents.
Additionally, Philadelphia County saw 10,417 automobile accidents in 2021, the most of any county in our state, according to the most current statistics provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. This number is expected to rise over the next several years. On top of these grim numbers, Philadelphia County already claims around 28 automobile accidents daily. That’s more than one accident per hour, every day, throughout the year.
What’s more, Philadelphia has one of the lowest automobile ownership rates in the nation, yet the city also has one of the worst rates of traffic accidents.
