Philadelphia, PA (April 30, 2022) – Injuries stemmed from a pedestrian accident that took place at a Philadelphia intersection on Saturday morning, April 30.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Broad Street and Locust Street. A silver 2017 Mercedes was traveling south at a high rate of speed when the driver went through several red lights. The vehicle struck a 32-year-old man who was walking in the crosswalk through the intersection. The car continued onward a short while and then came to a stop so that the driver could wait for police.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 32-year-old male pedestrian sustained a severe head injury and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police are not sure why the driver of the vehicle, identified as a 23-year-old female, drove through multiple red lights. She has since been charged for her role in the collision.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
