Philadelphia, PA (December 26, 2023) – On Tuesday morning, police in northwest Philadelphia reported that three persons were hospitalized after an early morning vehicle collision that occurred after authorities attempted to pull over a vehicle that was suspected of being stolen.
A blue Kia Optima, thought to be stolen, was seen by an officer patrolling the area at 3:00 a.m. between 15th Street and Rockland Street, according to Philadelphia Police. Shortly thereafter, near the Fern Rock Transportation Center, in the 5700 block of North Broad, the Kia collided with a Buick that was heading south on Old York Road.
Per the police, a 34-year-old driver was hospitalized, and inside the Kia, officers discovered a 14-year-old driver and a 14-year-old passenger, both with several injuries. The three victims of the accident were airlifted to Einstein Hospital by Philadelphia Fire Department personnel earlier in the day. No further details have been released, but an investigation is still ongoing.
The injured victims and their loved ones are in our thoughts, and we hope for their full recovery.
