Philadelphia, PA (April 13, 2024) – The National Transportation Safety Board is now investigating a deadly crash on I-95 that involved three vehicles, according to authorities on the scene.
The Mustang hit two vehicles on the highway near the Betsy Ross Bridge, killing two people, per the latest report released by authorities on Friday morning, April 12. The victims, both men from Philadelphia, were 20 and 22 years old. Federal officials are looking to see if the Mustang’s advanced driver assistance system was in use at the time of the wreck, and officials added that this is the second case of its kind that the board has investigated since February. No further details were released, and it’s unclear how many people were hurt. An investigation remains ongoing.
We offer our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased men. Our thoughts are with any injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
Fatal Vehicle Accidents in Pennsylvania
According to data collected from Pennsylvania roadways over the last year, rear-end crashes are the second most prevalent car accident. Thousands of these crashes involving several vehicles are reported in Pennsylvania each year, so drivers must exercise extra caution.
Unsafe driving is a common contributor to accidents. In the state of Pennsylvania, the most common reason for rear-end collisions, for instance, is when drivers text or drive or engage in distracted driving. But despite the often-negligent causes of these accidents, there are occasions when it is less than easy to determine who is at fault in a rear-end collision.
One of the most important factors determining the severity of injuries sustained in a rear-end accident is the speed of the vehicle initiating the collision. Most rear-end crashes occur when one driver abruptly stops, causing the vehicle in front of them to careen into the traffic going from the other direction.
If you were injured in a rear-end collision, the negligent driver who caused the wreck should cover your medical expenses and lost income. Unfortunately, when a policyholder is seriously hurt or even rendered permanently disabled due to a vehicle accident, the insurance company may attempt to avoid paying for the policyholder’s long-term care or lost income and future earning potential despite their lack of fault in contributing to a wreck.
