Philadelphia, PA (August 11, 2023) – Wednesday saw the third incident involving a SEPTA vehicle this week when two buses collided in South Philadelphia, according to local authorities.
According to SEPTA, a Route G bus collided with a stopped Route G bus at the intersection of 15th Street and Oregon Street at roughly 10:30 a.m. There were six casualties total, three on each bus. All injured victims were taken to the hospital, though their current conditions are unknown.
Officials say have been at least 10 documented accidents involving SEPTA vehicles this year, three of which occurred just this past week. The incidents had several causes, per SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch, but the agency will provide safety training to all staff.
It’s unclear what led to the crash, but officers with the Philadelphia Police Department continue investigating.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recovery.
