Philadelphia, PA (January 22, 2022) – Late Friday night, January 21, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Philadelphia.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Broad Street and Allegheny Avenue. A 50-year-old woman was getting off a SEPTA bus at the intersection when she was suddenly struck by a Chevrolet Impala that jumped over the median. The victim was crossing the street at the time. Several individuals inside the Impala got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. Nobody else was injured in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. Police did not say if they found the parties responsible for the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
