Silver Spring Township, PA (August 2, 2023) – On the morning of Tuesday, August 1, a state road in Cumberland County was shut down by officers with the Silver Spring Township Police Department after a deadly collision.
Right around 7:20 a.m., the Silver Spring Township PD responded to the scene of a two-car collision near the corner of Hempt Road and Texaco Road. The police report that two SUVs, a 2022 Mitsubishi and a 2017 Chevrolet, collided in the intersection.
A 66-year-old man, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was reportedly given CPR by paramedics but was eventually pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unclear if any other injuries occurred in the accident.
Officer Cody Phillips with the SSTPD is in charge of the ongoing investigation and requests that any witnesses contact him.
