Toms River, NJ (May 22, 2023) – On Sunday night, three vehicles collided on Route 9 in Toms River, injuring six individuals, according to the police.
Toms River Police Department’s public relations specialist, Jillian Messina, said the collision occurred at 7:40 p.m. on Route 9 at the junction of Hecht Drive.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by TRPD officers, a man was traveling south on Route 9 when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with an oncoming vehicle, sending it careening off the road and into a driveway, where it collided with a third car.
Officers added that six persons were traveling in the three cars and were all brought to hospitals for treatment. Three of the six people injured were then transferred to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, and the other three were taken to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus and Community Medical Center.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Crime Site Investigation Unit, and the New Jersey State Police Diversion Unit all helped out at the site.
Police added that charges are still being considered for the incident, which remains under active investigation by the Toms River Traffic Safety Unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
