Woodbridge, NJ (May 2, 2024) – Police said that during Tuesday’s rush hour commute, an NJ Transit bus swerved into a ditch, injuring seven people, including a newborn and a toddler.
According to the Woodbridge Police Department Traffic Unit, the New Jersey Transit bus was traveling east on Port Reading Avenue when it rear-ended an Acura, which subsequently rear-ended a transit van. The NJ Transit bus rolled down an embankment shortly thereafter.
At least 17 individuals, including the bus driver, were aboard the bus at the time of the collision, per the police. Seven patients were sent to the hospital in unknown condition, and among the victims were a 3-year-old and a newborn. However, the cause of the collision is currently being investigated by the Woodbridge Police Department, and no further details have been reported in the interim.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recovery.
