Brick Township, NJ (May 6, 2022) – On Thursday afternoon, May 5, a critical three-vehicle collision led to injuries in an elderly man at a Brick Township intersection.
Brick Police confirmed that the accident happened around 3:25 p.m. at the intersection of NJ-70 and Morris Avenue. Police claim that an 83-year-old male was traveling east when he suddenly ran into the concrete divider. His vehicle was struck by one car following by another vehicle. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged as a result.
Medical services and fire crews were called to the scene to assist those in need. The 83-year-old driver was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries. A second driver also sustained chest-related injuries and was treated at the scene but is expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for a period of time following the crash. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims in this accident in hopes of full recoveries.
Car Accidents in New Jersey
According to the Federal Highway Administration reports taken in recent years, approximately 50% of injury and fatality accidents happen at or near intersections. Intersections are supposed to be safe areas that feature red lights, stop signs, crosswalks, and more. However, accidents still happen there every single day due to the recklessness of others. Some acts are more likely to lead to serious collisions at intersections, including the following:
- Drivers who are driving distracted
- Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Speeding
- Failing to yield to others on our roads
In the blink of an eye, your life could be turned upside-down due to an intersection accident that was caused by another party. Because of this, you should have the help of a legal advocate on your side.
