Chesterfield Township, NJ (May 5, 2025) – Thirty-nine people were injured after a crash involving multiple vehicles, including two passenger buses, on the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County on Sunday afternoon, state police said.
The crash happened just before 1:00 p.m. on the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near mile marker 56 in Chesterfield Township, Burlington County. State police said that two Van Hool buses were traveling northbound, and one of them rear-ended the other, which caused a chain reaction collision involving three other vehicles behind the buses.
Thirty-nine people were taken to nearby hospitals for minor injuries after the crash, state police said. The highway has since reopened, and the crash is under investigation. However, no further details have been reported in the interim.
