Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
What Risks Do Pedestrians Face on High-Speed Highways in Pennsylvania?
Pedestrians on highways like I-80 face significant danger because vehicles travel at high speeds, and drivers may not expect someone on foot. When a vehicle becomes disabled on the shoulder, leaving the car can expose a person to passing traffic. Limited lighting during evening hours can further reduce visibility.
Highway pedestrian crashes often result in severe or fatal injuries due to the force of impact. Injuries may include multiple blunt force traumas, internal injuries, and head trauma. Even brief exposure to moving traffic can lead to tragic consequences.
After a fatal pedestrian accident, families may have questions about insurance coverage, liability, and available options. Gathering crash reports, medical documentation, and related records can help clarify what steps may be possible. Highway incidents often involve detailed investigations to determine contributing factors.
A wrongful death lawyer can review the facts of a highway pedestrian collision and explain what legal avenues may be available. Legal guidance can help clarify insurance matters and whether certain types of compensation could be pursued depending on the findings.
