Philadelphia, PA (January 19, 2022) – An elderly woman was critically injured in a pedestrian crash at an intersection in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening, January 18.
According to Philadelphia officials, the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Byberry Road and Barbary Road. A pedestrian, identified only as a woman in her 80s, was struck by a vehicle that was traveling near the intersection. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Numerous responders, including Philadelphia police and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for treatment of her critical injuries.
Due to the severity of the collision, the intersection was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
