Car Accident in Philadelphia
Beginning in 2016, Philadelphia adopted a plan called Vision Zero. The aim of this plan was to reduce deaths and serious injuries related to traffic crashes in the city. The goal is to have 0 traffic-related fatalities by the year 2030. According to statistics from Vision Zero, however, the number of fatal accidents in Philadelphia rose to 120 in 2020, which was higher than the numbers seen in recent years. The rates of injury crashes are not proportional across the city, with about 12% of local roadways accounting for approximately 80% of all reported Philadelphia car accidents.
With a population of more than 1.5 million people, traffic accidents are to be expected. However, it is important to note that most crashes are preventable. Negligent drivers account for the vast majority of all accidents reported in Philadelphia. Some common examples of negligent driving include speeding, careless driving, distraction, and impairment. If these drivers had used ordinary care and caution, it is most likely that an accident could have been avoided.
The most unfortunate thing about traffic accidents is that they affect innocent motorists. Drivers who were simply minding their own business can be seriously hurt at a moment’s notice. These victims may suffer serious injuries that impact virtually every area of their life.
