Bath, PA (February 3, 2022) – A driver was seriously injured in a tractor-trailer crash involving a train at an intersection in Bath on Thursday morning, February 3.
Bethlehem Police confirmed that the accident happened on the railroad tracks at the intersection of PA-512 and Locust Road around 9:30 a.m. A tractor-trailer was traveling in the area when it suddenly collided with a Norfolk Southern train as it went over the tracks. The tractor-trailer sustained severe damages and caused numerous yogurt containers to spill into the nearby creek.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as a 67-year-old man from Glendale, was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The intersection was completely blocked in the area of the tracks for several hours as police worked to clear the scene. All traffic was detoured in the area for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update as more information becomes available.
