Blair County, PA (September 10, 2023) – A fatal car accident occurred along Interstate 99 in Blair County on Saturday afternoon.
State troopers in Pennsylvania said that a 69-year-old Philipsburg woman was struck and killed as she exited her vehicle on Interstate 99 northbound. Centre County reported that the woman served as the county’s chief deputy coroner.
After being involved in an accident in the southbound lane, troopers say she got out of her car and started walking toward the scene of the first collision. She was hit by a northbound car while crossing the freeway, according to state authorities.
State police said she was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Blair County Coroner.
It’s unclear if any other injuries occurred, though officers are continuing to investigate at this time.
We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the deceased woman’s loved ones.
